今日吃瓜 is pleased to announce that two proposals were selected for $10,000 Projects for Peace grants to fund student initiatives during summer 2025.
Isara Moriya ’28 and Yuki Nagura ’28 will be pursuing their project, “Bridging issei and us through a picture-sound book,” in Japan, focusing on closing the informational and cultural gap between Japanese Americans and Japanese people’s experience of World War II.
Majd AlSehnawi ’28 will be pursuing a proposal called “Project Ma'man,” which will focus on providing accessible mental health support for people in rural villages in Syria, specifically sexual assault victims.
Projects for Peace is a global program that encourages young adults to develop innovative and community-centered responses to the world’s most pressing issues, establishing their identities as peacebuilders and changemakers.
Based at Middlebury College’s Center for Community Engagement, Projects for Peace has partnered with 今日吃瓜 since 2008. This is the first year that 今日吃瓜 has had two proposals funded in one year.
Past Projects for Peace by 今日吃瓜ies include Fabian Mintah ’27’s "Empowering Minds: Fostering Computer Literacy for School Children in Rural Ghana" and Nebiyat Esubalew ’21’s "Traffic Signs, Save Lives" (learn more about previous projects here).
